Vulcan - A Productions is headed by ballsy actress/writer/producer Liane Curtis.
Liane is 4th generation show business on her father' side. She comes from the Ford family - a dance dynasty created by Liane's great Grandfather, John William Ford, whose fame lasted from 1880s through the late 1920s. The Four Fords were: Ed, Max (who invented a tap step called the Maxi Ford), Dora and Mabel. They were internationally renowned Vaudeville entertainers - amazing terpsichoreans - they eventually split and The Ford Sisters became their own act and traveled with their own orchestra. The fifth Ford was Jonny who went off on his own. Jonny was married (briefly) to Eva Tanguay. Liane's Grandmother, Mabel, was one of the two Ford Sisters and her Grandfather Jack Curtis Sr. was a Keith Albee booker and later became a theatrical agent. Prior to having Jack Jr., he had a daughter with Vaudeville's Anna Chandler - Beatrice Curtis who married Harry Fox. They had a son about a year before Mabel and Jack Sr. were married. Liane would love to find out who he was. Max Sr. had two children Liane knew nothing about until February 2005. Tom and Miriam. Tom's family is HUGE and Liane is ecstatic at having a new branch of the family to share the Ford legacy.
Liane's father Jack Curtis made a film called The Flesheaters in the 1960's and voiced several roles in the cartoon animated series Speed racer. An editor by trade he died at 44 in 1970.
Jack's first cousin was Roy Benson - magcian in his own right mentored by Nate Leiptzig about whom a book has been written: Roy Benson By Starlight which is available from www.themiraclefactory.org. Roy built the monster for The Flesheaters.
Liane's mother, Paulette Rubinstein was in the original Broadway cast of The Boyfriend with Julie Andrews. After doing The 7 Year Itch Paulette eventually segued into post production where she met Jack Jr. She translated and dubbed all of Ingmar Bergman's films (up until Fanny & Alexander) into English and directed the American voice actors in studio. Paulette also won an Emmy in 1983 for her writing contribution to "Great Performances - Placido Domingo Celebrates Seville". A survivor of 9-11, Paulette is alive and well and living in NYC.
That's a wrap for now. Do what you love and love what you do.
